Optical Network
Oct 12, 2022| Optical network generally refers to the wide area network, metropolitan area network or newly built large scale local area network using optical fiber as the main transmission medium. Optical network has the characteristics of high transmission speed and long transmission distance. The optical network is composed of optical communication equipment, optical chips and modules, and optical fiber cables. China has obvious advantages in the field of the whole machine.
Subdivision track:
1. Optical communication equipment
The optical communication network is mainly divided into core layer, backbone layer, convergence layer and access layer. The optical communication network mainly includes PON network in terms of access layer, and WDM and OTN in terms of convergence, backbone and core layer.
1) PON Network
The PON market in the world and China is expected to maintain a steady growth. According to the latest report of Dell'Oro Group, a market research company, it is estimated that the sales of PON equipment, wired broadband access equipment and fixed wireless CPE used for FTTH deployment will increase from 2021 to 2026. It is estimated that the revenue of PON equipment will increase from 8.3 billion dollars in 2021 to 9.8 billion dollars in 2026. Thanks to the optical fiber construction and subsidy measures, the relevant market revenue is expected to reach a peak of 18 billion dollars in 2024
2)WDM
WDM can be divided into Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing (CWDM) and Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM). Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing technology is generally used in short distance MAN. In 2020, the global market size of Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) devices will reach 450000; Dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) technology is generally applied to long-distance trunk networks with large capacity or core nodes of metropolitan area networks with large capacity. Coarse Wave Division Multiplexing (CWDM) does not need to choose expensive Dense Wave Decomposition Multiplexers and Optical Amplifiers (EDFAs), but only uses cheap multi-channel laser transceivers as repeaters, so the cost of CWDM is greatly reduced compared with DWDM.
3)OTN
OTN is a transmission network based on wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) technology and organized in the optical layer. The scheduling of pure WDM depends on the manual configuration of optical fibers in the ODF frame. There is little problem in the access layer because the networking structure is relatively fixed. However, for convergence, metropolitan area, and backbone services that often need to be changed, the workload and error rate of manual scheduling become a problem. OTN adds optical scheduling unit OXC on the basis of WDM, thus realizing the automatic configuration of optical waves up and down.
