North American Optical Transmission Equipment Market Grows 14 Percent

·Currency exchange rates remain a concern throughout 2022, leading to lower market performance in many regions. At constant exchange rates, the global optical transport market grew by about 4% during the year, while the overall WDM market grew by about 5%.

·The largest suppliers in North America are Ciena, Cisco, Fujitsu and Infinera. Among these suppliers, Fujitsu and Infinera significantly outperformed the market. Fujitsu's optical network equipment revenue increased by 80% year-on-year, and Infinera's increased by 38%.

· Internet content provider spending on WDM equipment rebounded in the fourth quarter of 2022 after an unexpected decline in the third quarter of 2022, which contributed to the strong growth in North American results in the fourth quarter.
