Ciena Expands Digital Inclusion Program in India
Apr 19, 2023| Ciena is committed to expanding opportunities for students and youth through digital inclusion projects, and as part of its global commitment, Ciena has been working with various non-profit organizations across India to help bridge the digital divide. Ciena's Digital Inclusion Program continues to increase access to affordable connectivity, technology and initiatives to facilitate digital skills development and acquisition.
For example, Ciena has partnered with Udayan Care to launch a digital education and training program by setting up an "Information Technology Training and Learning Center" in Gurugram, Haryana.
Dr Kiran Modi, Managing Trustee of Udayan Care, said: “With the support of Ciena, this initiative aims to equip underserved youth with essential IT skills and digital learning competencies, creating new employment opportunities for at least 150 youth. This opportunity also Exposing young people to other vocational courses puts them on a path that promises to improve their quality of life."
Jagriti Yadav, Senior Director, IT Applications, Ciena, Member of Ciena India CSR Subcommittee, said: “Many of the nonprofits supported by Ciena’s Digital Inclusion Initiative were suggested by local Ciena employees.
