The cost of optical chips accounts for the highest proportion of optical devices

The raw materials required for optical module products are mainly optical components, circuit chips, PCBs and structural parts. Among them, the cost of optical devices accounts for the highest proportion, about 73%. Optical devices are mainly composed of TOSA (laser based transmitting module), ROSA (detector based receiving module), pigtail, etc. TOSA accounts for 48% of the total cost of optical devices; ROSA accounts for 32% of the total cost of optical devices. Optical devices are the most expensive part of optical module products, and from the chip level, optical chips are the most expensive components of TOSA and ROSA. The higher the speed, the higher the cost of optical chips of optical modules. In general high-end optical modules, the cost of optical chips is close to 50%.
