What are the rates of optical transceivers
Apr 12, 2023| Optical modules are classified by transmission rate:
The transmission rate refers to the number of bits transmitted per second, in Mb/s or Gb/s.
Optical transceiver products cover the following main rates: low rate, 100M, 1000M, 2.5G, 4.25G, 4.9G, 6G, 8G, 10G and 40G
Optical modules are classified by package
● XFP (10 Gigabit Small Form Factor Pluggable) is a hot-swappable, communication-independent optical transceiver for 10G bps Ethernet, SONET/SDH, and Fiber Channel.
● Small pluggable transceiver module (SFP), currently the most widely used.
● GigacBiDi series single-fiber bidirectional optical modules use WDM technology to realize one optical fiber to transmit bidirectional information (point-to-point transmission. Especially when optical fiber resources are insufficient, one optical fiber is required to transmit bidirectional signals). GigacBiDi includes SFP single fiber bidirectional (BiDi), GBIC single fiber bidirectional (BiDi), SFP+ single fiber bidirectional (BiDi), XFP single fiber bidirectional (BiDi), SFF single fiber bidirectional (BiDi), etc.
● RJ45 electric port small pluggable module, also known as electric module or electric port module.
● SFF is divided into 2x5, 2x10, etc. according to its pins
● Gigabit Ethernet interface converter (GBIC) module
● Passive optical network PON (A-PON, G-PON, GE-PON) optical module
● 40Gbs high-speed optical module.
● SDH transmission module (OC3, OC12, OC48)
● Storage module, such as 4G, 8G, etc.
