The o-band optical wavelength range is used in many different solutions in today's telecommunications systems. One of them is xWDM system, EDGE Optics provides single wavelength 100G QSFP28 O-band xWDM pluggable optical transceiver and passive O-band MUX/ DeMUX filter equipment. The transceiver operates in the O-band of 16 wavelengths from 1295nm to 1312nm with 200GHz channel spacing in a LAN-WDM grid. These modules require singlemode G.652 fiber optics for proper operation. Connect single-lane links directly from one QSFP28 to another – without a MUX filter, up to a maximum link distance of 30 km. However, if the 8Ch MUX/DeMUX filter system is used, the maximum link distance will be reduced to 25km due to filter insertion loss. And equipped with 16Ch MUX / DeMUX filters respectively - 20km.

Passive DWDM 100G QSFP28 O-band xWDM transceiver designed with CAUI-4 host electrical interface with 4 NRZ lines. This approach ensures compatibility with most switch manufacturers. 4 electrical NRZ lines are attached to a PAM4 optical signal line with integrated FEC with the help of an in-module gearbox. This optical line is the main source of the modulation signal, driven by a laser on a specific wavelength channel.

O-band passive MUX/DeMUX filter solution allows transmission of maximum 1.6Tbps data over a distance of 20km. This is achieved with Solution #1, which has 16 channels of MUX/DeMUX filters and all channels 100G transceivers.
