PM fiber patch cord definition
Mar 08, 2023|
PM fiber patch cords are widely used in polarization sensitive fiber optical systems for transmission of light that requires the PM state to be maintained. We provide PM patch cords at dix different wavelengths (from 780nm to 1550nm). These patch cables are made using the best known polarization maintaining fibers such as Fujikura PM fiber, Corning PM fiber or Nufern PM fiber, and top quality fiber optic connectors. Features high extinction ratio, low insertion loss, high return loss and long-term reliability.
PM patch cord have orthogonal "slow" and "fast" axes with different propagation constants. There is little coupling between polarization modes, so light emitted in one axis will propagate in that axis. It has a high extinction ratio due to the very precise active alignment between the PM long axis and the connector key.
